Well this is certainly a turn up for the books if indeed it is actually a solidified fact. OK so let’s catch up, the much talked about remake of ‘Poltergeist’ of course has already acquired script writer David Lindsay-Abair to pen the new screenplay and MGM were reportedly chasing ‘The Ring’ and ‘The Grudge’ producer Roy Lee to produce. But the biggest name drop of all has to be that of Sam Raimi, whom the Hollywood Reporter are telling us will helm the redo! They slipped it in during a piece on the Lindsay-Abair adapted script for ‘Rise of the Guardians’ but its right there. Raimi had been rumoured to be on the producing side of things for the project but in the director’s seat? Well, we shall see. The original and terrifying ‘Poltergeist’ arrived in 1982 from director Tobe Hooper (‘The Texas Chain Saw Massacre’) and co-writer and co-producer Steven Spielberg (‘Jurassic Park’).
