It’s been a while since we heard anything worth reporting about for Dan Aykroyd’s ‘Ghostbusters 3’ but Danny boy’s been chatting with legendary TV host Larry King about the project and has revealed a few plot tidbits we can sink our teeth into. Speaking on ‘Larry King Now’ Aykroyd revealed that the main focus for the plot of the second sequel to the huge 80’s comedy hit will revolve around particle physics research. He also reaffirmed that Bill Murray will not be back to resprise his role as Peter Venkman but is still optimistic that he’ll change his mind. “There will be a hole for him,” Aykroyd says. “If Billy wants to walk in the door and be in the movie, we will find a place.” ‘Ghostbusters 3’ will include a new team of younger fitter ‘Ghostbusters’ who all start out in the film as Columbia University students, the location where the world altering ‘research’ is being carried out. Ivan Reitman is set to helm and a 2014 release will mark its 30th anniversary. Check out the full details offered up by Aykroyd below.
“It’s based on new research that’s being done in particle physics by the young men and women at Columbia University,” he tells King. “…Basically, there’s research being done that I can say that the world or the dimension that we live in, our four planes of existence, length, height, width and time, become threatened by some of the research that’s being done. Ghostbusters — new Ghostbusters — have to come and solve the problem.”
