L.A’s SCREAMFEST CALLS FOR ENTRIES
The third edition of Los Angeles annual Screamfest has announced its 2003 call for entries. The folks behind this event, which takes place October 10-19, are accepting films (completed after January 1, 2001) and screenplays to compete in the following categories: Horror Feature, Horror Short, Horror Super Short (under 10 minutes), Horror Comedy, Documentary (haunt or horror-related), Horror Animation, Horror Animation Short, Horror Animation Super Short, Student Horror Feature Film, Student Horror Short and Student Horror Super Short. Entry fees are $25-40 for films (depending on category), and for scripts its $30 (for awards consideration) or $60 (with coverage by the panel of Screamfest judges, including Guillermo del Toro, Stan Winston, PSYCHOs Joseph Stefano, literary agents and development excecutives). The grand prize is $1,000 cash; deadline for entries is August 15. In addition, veteran screenwriting instructor Robert McKee will host his Horror Day Story Structure seminar as part of the fest on October 11. Go to the official website for more info.
