‘Tis the season for ‘Clerks’ director and SModcaster extraordinaire Kevin Smith. The announcement of his newest project has been made and the writer/director is once more turning his attentions to the realm of horror. As we eagerly await the arrival of his newest genre effort ‘Tusk’ the filmmaker is turning his attentions to ‘Anti-Claus’. “When I was a kid, if they wanted to make a Christmas horror movie, they’d stick an axe in Santa’s hands…” says Smith “In Anti-Claus, we leave Santa alone and creep with the Krampus through twisted tales of holly-jolly murder, desire, desperation and despair. Just in time for the holiday season.” And what’s more is that the main cast has already been conveniently set up and filled by Justin Long (‘Drag Me to Hell’), Michael Parks (‘Red State’), Haley Joel Osment (‘The Sixth Sense’) and Genesis Rodriguez. Sound familiar? Of course this is the main line-up for his upcoming twisted creature feature ‘Tusk’.
XYZ Films are set to launch the project to buyers at the upcoming Cannes film market with shooting set to kick off this September.
“Anti-Claus tells the tale of the centuries-old, devil-like creature known the world-over as the Krampus – the “Anti-Claus” of Alpine country folklore, infamous for eating naughty children during the season of giving.”
