Midnight Releasing will be unleashing writer/director Michael Matteo Rossi’s new psychological thriller ‘Misogynist’ on 3 March 2015. Rossi’s tale revolves around misogynist Trevor and his new protégé. Trevor is intent on teaching those around him his views and strategies on how to deal with the opposite sex but it seems that Trevor has other, more vengeful, plans for that of his top student Harrison. It’ll be arriving on DVD along with some special behind the scenes clips as well as audio commentary and is now available to pre-order from Amazon. ‘Misogynist’ stars Jonathan Bennett, Jon Briddell, Eve Mauro, Tracey E. Bregman, Danielle Lozeau, Kris Black, Alia Raelynn and Adam Treska. You can check out the trailer, posters and other assets from the movie below.
Here’s the plot breakdown:
Trevor is an extreme misogynist who campaigns underground seminars, teaching his ideology of women. Only through referrals and word of mouth, he provides bizarre, offensive, and outlandish strategies to young men, with the promise that they can control any woman. His best student is Harrison, a young man Trevor took under his wing when he was most vulnerable. Viewing Trevor as a father-figure, Harrison will do what Trevor instructs him to do. Soon Harrison starts to realize Trevor has an ulterior motive and is hell-bent on revenge in the most brutal of ways.
“Misogynist in its own word is a conversation piece”. Says director Rossi. “My film intends to shed light on gender play and characters who blur the lines and get desensitized to anything morally questionable. There is no question it is a disturbing film; but it gives an inner look into how sociopaths are able to manipulate other people into believing anything they want. It’s about control.”
Jon Briddell, the actor who plays the title lead role of Trevor, spoke briefly about his role:
“When you take on a role like Trevor, a man with such hatred and such a dark agenda, as an actor you need to look deep for clues as to how he became this way…And then look within yourself for ways to humanize him so as to try to be a real person and not to be one dimensional.”
