MIIKE ONE OF NEW THREE
Variety reports that Takashi Miike has directed a segment of the genre anthology THREE: MONSTER, a Hong Kong/South Korean/Japanese production scheduled to open in Asia next month. The other two tales were helmed by Korean Park Chan-wook, who took the Cannes Grand Prix this year for his disturbing and ultragrim drama OLD BOY, and HKs Fruit Chan. The only story for which details are available is Parks Cut, which screened at the recent Puchon Fantastic Film Festival in Korea and is about an insane movie extra seeking violent revenge against a famous director and his wife, but you can check out a trailer by clicking here. This project is a follow-up to 2002s THREE, which also combined macabre tales by directors from the three countries: Peter Ho-sun Chan (who produced the Pang Brothers THE EYE and its forthcoming sequel), Nonzee (NANG NAK) Nimibutr and Kim (A TALE OF TWO SISTERS) Ji-woon.
