A NEW ENTITY
Variety is reporting today that Fox Searchlight is ramping up a remake of 1983’s The Entity, which starred Barbara Hershey as a woman who is repeatedly sexually assaulted by a ghost, and tries to get help from a team of parapsychologists. Hershey is probably far too old (and proud) to return to the role now, but sure some fresh-faced young vixen will be more than happy to step into her place.
More than likely because is has to do with ghosts, Fox has also announced they’ve wooed Hideo Nakata, director of both Ring and Dark Water, among others, to helm the feature. Taka Ichise will produce as always, and the film’s going to have a budget of less than $15 million. Nakata’s making his U.S. directorial debut with The Ring 2, set for released sometime next year.
