An official website has been opened for EFFECTS, the long-lost horror film created by a team of George A. Romero protégés over 20 years ago. Directed by Dusty Nelson from a script he wrote with John Harrison, the movie will be released on special-edition DVD October 25 by Synapse Films, with commentary by Nelson, Harrison and editor Pasquale Buba, a new hour-long documentary by Michael Felsher and other features.
Harrison also stars in EFFECTS as Lacey Bickel, a director who brings his cast and crew (including Tom Savini, pictured) to a remote house to shoot a horror movie—and starts killing them off on camera for real for a secret snuff-film project. The site includes information on the feature and the DVD, as well as the rumors surrounding the production’s history. You might also want to look around the pages for movie clips that are apparently hidden there. Harrison will discuss the movie and other projects on Saturday, September 24 at our East Coast Weekend of Horrors convention, taking place at the Meadowlands Crowne Plaza Hotel in New Jersey. Look for a Fango retrospective on EFFECTS in issue #248, on sale October 25.
