With the much-buzzed-about SNAKES ON A PLANE a few months away, cash-in serpentine projects are already waiting in the wings. Dream Entertainment (MONSTER MAN) has signed director Jeff (LEATHERFACE) Burr to helm SNAKE ATTACK, which Brian a.k.a. Domonic (CRITTERS) Muir will script.
“SNAKE ATTACK is still in the very early stages,” Muir tells Fango of the movie, which will be presold at this month’s Cannes market. “There’s talk of shooting in the fall. We’re planning for the flick to be fun, along the lines of PIRANHA, but also with some genuine scares—more emphasis on real snakes than CGI.”
The early sales pitch for SNAKE ATTACK reads, “A shipment of rare poisonous snakes is lost in a truck crash near a nuclear waste facility. The plot twists sinisterly when the enormous mutant snakes converge upon the movie set of a horror film featuring snakes and a famous ex-porn star.”
Muir has also written two MONSTER MAN sequels for Dream Entertainment that Burr will helm. “The MONSTER MAN flicks are still being talked about,” he says. Burr’s excellent war drama STRAIGHT INTO DARKNESS debuts on DVD from Screen Media June 6; see details here.
