Now that it’s been confirmed, The Host 2 will be a prequel, more and more information is popping up about it, specifically today from Sci Fi Japan, who got a look at the first conceptual sketch from the film (shown below).
Scripted by popular comics writer Kang Full, the story will take place in 2003, three years previous to the events in The Host, during the early stages of the restoration of Cheonggye Stream through downtown Seoul. The stream, which was covered in concrete for 20 years before it was finally reverted back to water in 2005, was a major source of societal and political issues during the restoration, so it’s a great setting for yet another politically-charge monster movie.
Kang provided Sci Fi Japan with the first sketch from the film, depicting a scene in which a forklift driver tries to block the monster form climbing up to the surface. “I wanted to maintain the grace of the original film and to overcome the difficulties and limitations a sequel could have. And I wish to show more action with multiple monsters.” Kang told them.
