Box Office Mojo reports that another remake without a cast or creative team in place has nonetheless been assigned a release date; in this case, Lionsgate plans to bring a new MY BLOODY VALENTINE to theaters February 13, 2009. That’s the day before Valentine’s Day, of course, but it’s a Wednesday, not the more appropriate Friday.
No talent has been officially attached to this update of Paramount’s original (which opened Feb. 11, 1981), which was directed by George Mihalka and set in the town of Valentine Bluffs, where a series of revenge-fueled murders took place decades before. When the residents decide to hold the first Valentine’s Day dance since that tragedy, a madman in a miner’s outfit begins a new killing spree.
