ONE SHOT AT UNDERWORLD
Now that Dan Brereton (‘Nocturnals’) has bowed out of a proposed 12-issue ‘Underworld’ comic book adaptation, many of us are left wondering if the studio could find talent of Brereton’s caliber to bring the film’s vision of war between vamps and lycans to the small page.
Quickly filling in the gap (as Screen Gems should, they’ve only got three full months before ‘Underworld’ is released) created by Brereton’s departure, IDW Publishing has stepped forward to handle adaptation duties. ’30 Days of Night’ fans will instantly recognize IDW, this was the company behind the Steve Niles’ successful vampire series. Instead of the previously announced 12-issue undertaking, the ‘Underworld’ comic will now be struck down to a simple one-shot issue. Kris Oprisko will be penning the comic based on the shooting script. An artist to draw Kate Beckinsale’s ass page after page has yet to be decided.
