William Lustig’s 1980 slasher flick ‘Maniac’ looks set for the remake treatment thanks to that cheeky French filmmaker Alexandre Aja. Aja and writer/producer collaborator Grégory Levasseur have penned a script and are reportedly looking to produce the project. And it appears that ‘P2’ helmer Franck Khalfoun is already lined up for directorial duties. Aja, already with ‘The Hills Have Eyes’, ‘Mirrors’ and ‘Piranha’ redo’s under his bulging horror belt, will not rest until every horror movie in the back catalogue of Hollywood is remade is some way or another!
“A schizoid serial killer randomly stalks and kills various young women in New York, which he sees as revenge for the mistreatment he got while being raised by his own abusive mother.”
