Exciting news. The shoot for Guillermo Del Toro’s new sci-fi epic flick ‘Pacific Rim’ is due to kick off this week and the director has been speaking with the guys over at Wired who managed to squeeze the filmmaker over the rumoured news of actor Ron Perlman’s (‘Season fo the Witch’) involvement in the flick. Of course Perlman has worked previously with Del Toro on ‘Hellboy’ and it’s 2008 follow-up ‘Hellboy II: The Golden Army’ and now it appears that the unique actor will play a role in ‘Pacfic Rim’. Perlman will join Charlie Hunnam (‘Green Street’), Idris Elba (‘The Wire’), Charlie Day (‘Horrible Bosses’), Robert Kazinsky (‘Eastenders’), Max Martini and Rinko Kikuchi on the alien attack project. Check out a bried excerpt from the interview below and make sure you click the Wired link below for more.
“We are working with actors that I absolutely adore. Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Charlie Hunnam, Ron Perlman. It’s really, it’s a very, very beautiful poem to giant monsters. Giant monsters versus giant robots. Twenty-five-story-high robots beating the crap out of 25-story-high monsters. We’re trying to create a world in which the characters are real and how it would affect our world politically, how it would affect the landscape if creatures like this really came out of the sea, etc.”
Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros’ ‘Pacific Rim’ begins shooting this week in Toronto and is expected to open in theatres from 21 July 2013.
