REMAKE RELEASE DATES HERE
Variety reports that Universal has set release dates for the two remakes of genre classics it’s currently working on. DAWN OF THE DEAD, currently rolling in Toronto, is slated for a March 26, 2004 debut, while Peter Jackson’s KING KONG has been pencilled in for December 14, 2005. That’s the strongest indication yet that the studio is serious about getting Jackson’s long-mooted pet project going, and it gives him plenty of time to work on it. Now we all just have to deal with the wait! In addition, Universal moved up its PITCH BLACK sequel THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK from June 25, 2004 to June 11.
In addition, Universal has the U.S. distribution rights to SHAUN OF THE DEAD, the zombie spoof currently lensing in Britain for director/co-writer Edgar Wright. No date is set for that one yet.
