The ‘Resident Evil’ series has evolved greatly from its first game-to-feature adaption way back in 2002. The franchise has become so multi-layered the entire focus has almost shifted entirely from its humble beginnings as an exciting zombie action horror to a complex adventure with an evil corporation seeking a new order of world dominance…with zombies. However, this new featurette for Sony Screen Gems’ ‘Resident Evil: Retribution’ makes sure we’re all on the same page summarising the complicated history of the franchise and the original viral outbreak. Director Paul W.S. Anderson (‘Death Race’) returns for the third time to helm this fifth installment starring his sexy wife Milla Jovovich (‘The Fourth Kind’) as well as appearances from a bunch of past co-stars including Boris Kodjoe (‘Resident Evil: Afterlife’), Michelle Rodriguez, Colin Salmon (‘Exam’), Sienna Guillory and Oded Fehr. Kevin Durand (‘Lost’), Bingbing Li and Johann Urb (‘Eastwick’) also star. Check out the new featurette below.
“The Umbrella Corporation’s deadly T-virus continues to ravage the Earth, transforming the global population into legions of the flesh eating Undead. The human race’s last and only hope, Alice, awakens in the heart of Umbrella’s most clandestine operations facility and unveils more of her mysterious past as she delves further into the complex. Without a safe haven, Alice continues to hunt those responsible for the outbreak; a chase that takes her from Tokyo to New York, Washington, D.C. and Moscow, culminating in a mind-blowing revelation that will force her to rethink everything that she once thought to be true. Aided by newfound allies and familiar friends, Alice must fight to survive long enough to escape a hostile world on the brink of oblivion. The countdown has begun.”
‘Resident Evil: Retribution’ opens in US theatres on 14 September and from 28 September here in the UK.
