Producer Talks Sword Of Dracula Movie

PRODUCER TALKS SWORD OF DRACULA MOVIE

Producer Daniel Alter, who has teamed with Adrian Askarieh and HELLBOY producer Chuck Gordon to option Image Comics￿ SWORD OF DRACULA series, just talked to Fango about their forthcoming big-screen adaptation. Created by Jason Henderson, the SWORD OF DRACULA comic reimagines the Bram Stoker legend in a contemporary setting. The Count is the world￿s most feared terrorist (!), with an arsenal of new weapons and unusual powers (like controlling rivers of blood).

‘The movie version of SWORD OF DRACULA will be like RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK with vampires,’ Alter tells Fango. ‘The story takes place in modern times, where American forces compete with another superpower country to find Dracula￿s tomb. The object is to use Dracula￿s stengths for modern warfare. Vampirology becomes part of a military agenda.’

The producers expect to hire a major writer/director shortly to take the reins of the horror/actioner, and then will shop SWORD OF DRACULA to the studios. Names such as Viggo Mortensen and Jude Law have shown up on the casting short list as candidates to play the King of the Vampires.
