    UNDERWORLD WHIZ DISCUSSES SEQUEL

Patrick Tatopoulos, the whiz creature and effects man behind the recent hit ‘Underworld’, gave MovieHole a taste of his upcoming slate, and also confirmed a recent rumour regarding a Superhero project’s filming locale.

Tatopoulous says he’s currently working on the Wil Smith starrer ‘I Robot’. ‘Lately I￿ve been working with Alex Proyas on a film called I Robot, we￿re just finishing all the optical effects, and I￿ve been doing some stuff for a show called ￿Cave￿.

I was the production designer on ￿Aliens vs.Predator￿. Funny story. Everytime Alex Proyas has called to ask me to work on something, I￿ve been busy working on something of Paul’s. Last time it was Event Horizon, when Alex was doing Dark City. So anyway, I started working on Aliens vs Predator, but ultimately had to leave that to work for Alex on I Robot. But Paul has a website for Aliens vs Predator and you can still see some of my stuff up there’.

He also revealed he’s no longer working on a revamped ‘The Outer Limits’, because it essentially fell apart. ‘I was working on ￿The Outer Limits￿ but that￿s kinda fallen apart, on the back burner anyway’.

He’s also no longer involved with ‘Chronicles of Riddick’, but for different reasons. ‘On Riddick, I designed a lot of creatures but what happened was the studio decided not to end up including any creatures ￿ probably to keep the cost down ￿ and so they were lost. Apparently they were cut for storytelling reasons too.’

Next up, he says, he’s working on the sequel to ‘Underworld’. ‘I￿m already designing it. It￿s hard to tell when we￿re going to do it, but it will definitely be way before the end of the year. I￿ve already done Full-Blown stuff, but yeah, still working on it.’

On a final note, Tatopoulous says he’s got confirmation of a super-project. ‘My best friend called me two days ago and said Superman is on. It￿s starting up again. He￿s the concept illustrator, the designer worked on The Matrix, he￿s Australian, from Sydney. I can￿t tell you much more than that, but yeah, it￿s going to be filming in Australia soon.’
