Variety has reported that X Files creator/writer/producer Chris Carter is currently negotiating with 20th Century FOX regarding a second feature film to the hit series. Carter and Frank Spotnitz (both executive producers and writers for the show) are expected to scribe the script shortly with the aim of shooting getting underway by late 2002 for a late 2003 or Summer 2004 release. The project is expected to be a stand alone movie – almost void of any of the continuity of the television show – and will involve David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully respectively. Both are ‘willing and interested’ in participating in the project despite David Duchovny’s departure from the series. Gillian Anderson is continuing her ninth and final season of the show as we speak.
