Matt Damon was recently asked at a press day for The Brothers Grimm about the future of “Project Greenlight”, the show, which has been on rough ground pretty much since Day One, but even more so now that it moved from HBO to Bravo and took a massive hit in ratings.
Apparently the ratings were so bad that Bravo told them there’s no possible way the show can be brought back on their channel. Damon is still a supporter of Project Greenlight (which makes sense as he helped create it), however, and has hope it will find a new home. Most likely it will all hinge on two things; if the show wins the Emmy it’s been nominated for this year (nice!), and if Feast does well in theaters this December.
Speaking of which, Damon explained Bob Weinstein’s position on releasing the film in December, stating that Bob said “‘I released this movie The Darkness last year at Christmas. It’s the worst movie I’ve ever seen in my life, but it’s a great slot. Darkness made 22 million. So I’m putting Feast in the Darkness slot…F****** Feast is Citizen Kane compared to The Darkness. (Laughs)’ So in an odd way, maybe it’ll work out…”
Makes you wonder why these studios even bother acquiring such titles, but I’m sure there’s more to it than just quality. And hey, Feast has finally been compared to Citizen Kane! I’m hoping if Feast does do well they stick to horror if the show is brought back because it was endlessly entertaining watching the drama of the film getting made.
