here for more, and keep it here for the latest Masters of Horror: Season 2 news!”>As we slowly approach the crisp weather of October, more and more information is coming forth about the next season of Masters of Horror, which is in the planning stages as we speak. Staci Wilson over at About Horror got a chance to talk to series creator Mick Garris recently and got some cool new info about what we can look forward to this season.
First and foremost, John Landis is returning and will shooting his episode first just like the last time, but his story is much more straight horror. The script he’ll be working from comes from the pen of Frality writer Brent Hanley, if that gives you any idea of how serious it may be. “Script-wise there”s much less in this than anything he”s done previously. Much less humor.” Garris told her.
The question of when the full director/writer list would be announced was asked, and Garris made it clear that they want to be sure everyone is set in stone this time before anything official is said. “[On Season One] we had them all booked before it started shooting but then Roger Corman had to back out and George Romero had to back out, so there”s always a shuffle.” He said. “Part of the deal with this kind of show is that these are all feature film directors and we can”t in good conscious ask them to give up a feature to do a ten day shoot for us. So we know that things will change.”
What we do know so far is that Stuart Gordon is back with the Edgar Allan Poe story “The Black Cat”, which will hopefully star Jeffrey Combs as Poe, John Carpenter will once again be working from a very controversial script from Drew McWeeny and Scott Swan, who wrote last season’s “Cigarette Burns”, and Session 9 helmer Brad Anderson is on board this time out, though we’re not sure what he’ll be doing yet.
