MOTH DIRECTOR SAYS BANNISTERS WERE INVOLVED

We reported previously Reggie Bannister￿s assertions that he was never involved with an indie horror movie called MOTH TO THE FLAME, but director Scott Symons got in touch to tell us, ‘Reggie was most definitely attached to the film, and his wife and manager, Gigi, was on board to do FX, and I can prove it. Reggie and Gigi actually have a link to the following interview on one of their websites and didn￿t bother to delete it: http://www.baal-peor.gq.nu/fuq/ssv/ss_interv033.html. The interviewer asks Gigi what she and Reggie are up to, and Gigi says that they￿re going to work on a film called ￿MOTH TO A FLAME (Scott Symons) where Reg is a lead detective in a murder/thriller. I￿m SFX/Key Makeup.￿ After reading this, does it sound like Reggie ￿never had anything to do with it in the first place￿? Or that he ￿simply never was attached￿?

‘Note that she does not say, ￿Well, we￿re negotiating with the writer/director, and if we can reach an agreement, we￿ll work on this film,￿ ‘ Symons continues. ‘She clearly says that they are working on it. Also, look at the date of the interview: March 26, 2004. Exactly two weeks after the blurb on Fangoria.com that Reggie was allegedly so upset about! It took Reggie seven months to express his concern about Felissa Rose dropping his name to Fango?!? If you were an actor, and someone had attached your name to a film without your permission, and publicized it on Fango and the IMDb, wouldn￿t you try to rectify the situation right away? Wouldn￿t you call Fango and straighten the situation out immediately? Or would you do what Reggie did and wait seven months to mention it? And would you conveniently do it only after you received word that you were being replaced?

‘Reggie was attached to the film, so why shouldn￿t I have added him to our IMDb page? And if you look at our IMDb message board, Gigi posts a message complaining once again about Reggie￿s name being mentioned on Fangoria.com and the IMDb. Her message is dated September 27, only three days after I sent them a fax informing them that they were being dropped from the film! Again, it took several months for her to bring up these alleged concerns?

‘Apparently, Reggie and Gigi think they can get away with this because there wasn￿t a written contract. But there was definitely a verbal agreement, which I can prove because it￿s referred to in at least one of Gigi’s e-mails to me. The only reason I didn￿t send them a contract is because I wanted to include the shooting dates in the contract, and those kept changing. There was no danger of them changing their minds and deciding not to work on the film, so I felt no need to bother with a letter of intent, which isn￿t really a formal contract, anyway. They were clearly excited to be associated with MOTH. Let me give you Gigi￿s exact words from one of her e-mails: ￿We￿re both TOTALLY on for this film, we love it!￿ Then she says, ￿We￿re both looking forward to working with you.￿

‘Gigi is Reggie￿s wife and manager, so I find it hard to believe that she didn￿t bother to inform him that they were working on the film! Or perhaps she was going to wait another six or seven months to get around to it?’
