New Disorder Release Details

Fango first told you about writer/director/producer Jack Thomas Smith’s DISORDER, about a man previously imprisoned for a double murder who believes he sees the real killer stalking him. Now Smith sends word that the film is set for both big-screen play and a DVD release later this year. “DISORDER opens in New York City at the Two Boots Pioneer Theater on August 21,” he tells Fango. “We are also going to open theatrically in LA, but I don’t have a date yet. The movie is then scheduled to be released nationwide on DVD by Universal Music and Video Distribution and New Light Entertainment on October 3.” You can order advance tickets for the Pioneer screening here.

“The making of DISORDER was the most incredible experience of my life,” Smith says. “It was a crazy ride. DISORDER was a 60-day shoot in Pennsylvania and New Jersey along the Delaware Water Gap. We had to constantly fight the weather; it seemed like every day it either rained or snowed. We would shoot half an exterior, then it would snow, and then we’d have to wait for the snow to melt months later in order to go back to that location and finish shooting the scene. But I can honestly say that I got every single shot I wanted. I didn’t chop out any scenes due to money restrictions. I knew exactly how I wanted the movie to look, and I stuck to my guns every step of the way through production and postproduction.

“I feel very lucky to have landed distribution with UMVD and New Light, but I also know that the deal happened because I worked my ass off to make a good film and had an incredible cast and crew that believed in me and the project. Darren Kendrick, the lead actor, was absolutely incredible. If I would have asked him to lie down in front of a train, he would have done it if it would’ve made the movie better. The director of photography, Jonathan Belinski, did amazing work with the lighting and the overall look, and has been there every step of the way. Gabriel Friedman did a tremendous job with the film’s edit, and Roger Licari contributed an awesome 5.1 surround sound mix and design. Joel Goodman, the music composer, delivered 75 minutes’ worth of tension-building original music. I could go on and on, but the bottom line is that the cast and crew of DISORDER have become almost like a family. We all believed in the project and look forward to working together again on the next one.”
