DETAILS FROM HOUSE OF WAX SET
Moviehole writes, ‘The Australian checked out the set of House of Wax in Queensland – a huge private-property apparently – and gave a concise description of what?s been constructed.
‘As we drive down the dirt driveway, the House of Wax set (the rest of which is filmed on soundstages at the Warner Bros studios nearby) looks odd in the midst of the farmlands, but up close it is remarkably elaborate. On the dusty main street of the fictional Ambrose, in modern-day Louisiana, there is a petrol station, an old cinema, a barber shop, and big American pickup trucks and cars line the fake footpath. At the end of the road is a church, complete with wax organist, parishioners and coffin set for a funeral scene.
‘And outside is a graveyard, a manse, and, up the hill, the actual House of Wax, which looms spookily large like Norman Bates’s mother’s house up the road from the motel in Psycho.’
‘It’s a totally different, new, unique movie and it’s going to be really scary . . . people are going to get the **** scared out of them,’ Joel Silver says.
‘House of Wax’ is in the middle of a whirlwind 11-week shoot (about half the time of an average film), and is set for release in the US in time for Halloween, says the paper.
Meanwhile, Elisha Cuthbert told The Sydney Morning Herald that her ‘House of Wax’ co-star Paris Hilton is [shudder] doing a good job. ‘She’s like Michael Jackson in Australia,’ she laughed. ‘But she’s an actor, I can’t call her anything else. She’s doing a wonderful job on all of the scary moments that have happened to her.’
