NEAL FREDERICKS DIES
According to The Hollywood Reporter and The Miami Herald, genre cinematographer Neal Fredericks was killed in a plane crash in Florida this past Sunday at the age of 35. Fredericks had been shooting aerial footage with director Daniel Zirilli and three other crew members of the new horror film CROSS BONES (which we told you about here) when their single-engine plane went down in 50 feet of water in the Florida Keys. Zirilli and the other passengers escaped, but Fredericks was trapped in a safety harness under his equipment and pulled down with the wreckage.
Fredericks credits include Zirillis previous VOODOO TAILZ, Robert Naptons THE LEGEND OF DIABLO and Ryan Schifrins upcoming killer-Bigfoot movie ABOMINABLE, but hes best-known for his work on the indie horror smash THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT. Eduardo Sanchez, co-writer/director of that film and a longtime friend of Fredericks, told the Herald, ‘Hes just one of the most passionate people Ive ever known when it comes to filmmakingIt was really tragic how he died, but at the same time he died doing what he loved.’
