PIECES OF THE REJECTS
Dread Central reports:
‘Recently I had the pleasure of conducting an on camera interview with Mr. Rob Zombie during his busy schedule editing the much-anticipated sequel to House of 1000 Corpses, The Devils Rejects. After the interview he was kind enough to invite us into the editing bay to give us a sneak peek of the film. We were shown several scenes from Rejects and first off I have to say it looked great! It was obvious from what I saw that Rob is really beginning to develop a style of his own. House seemed to be all over the place visually while The Devils Rejects looks much more grounded and consistent. I promised Rob I wouldnt go into detail about what we were shown but I will give a brief description of a couple of scenes that have been discussed publicly by Rob and cast members in previous interviews.
The first scene was the stand off at the Firefly house between the Firefly family and the police led by Sheriff John Wydell (William Forsythe). This is one hell of a shoot out! Rob has recently described this film as more of a western than a horror film, and that gritty western style influence shows.
Next was the infamous ‘love making’ scene between Captain Spaulding played by Sid Haig and porn legend Ginger Lynn Allen. We were told this is the only scene in the film where you will see Captain Spaulding in his famous clown make-up. Recently at the San Diego Comic Con Sid described this scene with Ginger as, ‘A wild ride!’ I am in agreement there.
Lastly we were given a peek at what is becoming the infamous rape scene. I was pleasantly surprised to see yet another great genre actor who I didnt have a clue was even in the film, Geoffrey Lewis (Salems Lot). Otis (Bill Moseley) and Baby (Sheri Moon) take a group of people hostage in their own motel room and chaos ensues. Bill has described this scene in several recent interviews as the hardest thing he has ever had to do as an actor. I think that people will be shocked by the amazing performance given by Priscilla Barnes.
Yes the lady from ‘Threes Company’.
Rob told us that he had to turn in a directors cut to Lions Gate within a week, and that was over a week ago so my guess is he already has. After seeing the footage Rob was kind enough to share with us it only made me look forward to seeing the finished version that much more. Look for The Devils Rejects in theaters early 2005.’
