Inie filmmaker Daniel McLemore Stanton of Cinema Edge Productions gave Fango the first word on LEGION OF THE LIAR, which he wrote (with Michael Lee Snyder), directed, produced and edited. The movie stars Stephanie Snook (who also created the makeup FX with Adam Smyth) as Eve, a teenaged girl possessed by demons, and was shot at an actual disused mental institution; also starring are David Johnson as “The Tormentor,” Hans Benghauser, David Coppock, Yope Chau and Stephen K. Gibbons. On the movie’s official website, Stanton says, “Stylistically, this film is addressing the disturbing subject of exorcism—the process of casting out evil. I wanted to create a very unique theme of abstract images—more of an atmosphere for Good vs. Evil, without a lot of character dialogue.
“We are planning on self-distribution through the Legion site—unless, of course, a good deal comes along,” Stanton further tells Fango; Cinema Edge’s DVD release is planned for October 16, and pre-orders can be arranged through that site. “The disc’s special features will include a director’s commentary, The Gallery Reel—a montage-style still-photo featurette—and The Cleansing, a short film on exorcism). We’re also planning on hitting the fall festivals.” See the movie’s site and keep your eyes here in the future for more details.
