UNIVERSAL HORROR TV?
Seems like the guys behind The Horror Channel may go down in the history of television as the ones that started a massive new trend. Now that we’re only 2+ months away from the launch of The Horror Channel (and only a few weeks from us becoming a part of the grand scheme of it all), news stories are cropping up about yet more channels in the works.
We all know about The Scream Channel (probably), but don’t hold your breath for anything cool from that. Joe Bob Briggs is the director of programming and he’s got some strange taste in films…
One of our the Creature Corner’s constant readers pointed out another story about NBC/Universal pondering the idea of making a new horror channel, as well. They’ll be able to draw from their library of such classics as Dracula, The Wolf Man, and Van Helsing (just making sure you’re paying attention), but that’s about all the info we know other than it will be make a nice counterpart to Sci Fi Channel.
From the sounds of it NBC/Universal is discussing it not because they’re fans of the genre, but because they have movies to show off. While this may sound good to some of you, it’s not the formula for a successful channel.
