    Beware The Centipede!

    BEWARE THE CENTIPEDE!

    Dread Central reports:

‘Late last year, I was doing a little websurfing when I accidentally stumbled upon a website with info about a giant centipede movie being shot on location in India. Being a fan of nature gone amok movies, I was definitely intrigued. I don’t think there’s ever been a big killer centipede movie before and, in my humble opinion, I believe we are long overdue for one. Unfortunately, that lone website was the only place I could find any actual information about the film and a few months later it vanished from the web. After not being able to find out any new information for quite some time, I just gave up and assumed that the movie was either never completed or was stuck in limbo, possibly never to be released. That was until last week when I logged onto Fangoria’s website and learned that the movie was set to debut on the Sci-Fi Channel next month. Figures!

Written and directed by Dark Asylum filmmaker Gregory Gieras and indeed filmed on location in India, Centipede tells the horrifying tale of a group of young thrillseekers that go spelunking in the Shankali Caverns of India only to get trapped in a cave-in. Of course, they aren￿t alone in there and soon they find themselves under siege by large, hundred-legged, killer centipedes. I hate when that happens. While rescuers try to free them, they have to fight to stay alive against the insect onslaught, including a final showdown with the ‘King Centipede’. King Centipede? They had me at hello.

Centipede premieres on the Sci-Fi Channel on Saturday, November 6th at 9 p.m. EST, replaying at 1 a.m. EST. Will it actually be a worthwhile creepy crawling creature feature or yet another addition to the Sci-Fi Channel’s perpetually growing menagerie of predominately crummy killer animal movies? We’ll have to wait and see.

But look on the bright side. At least it’s not Uwe Boll’s feature film version of the popular 1980’s video game. Although, I must admit the idea of seeing people shooting at big, ever-quickening, poorly computer generated centipedes in bullet time as directed by Dr. Boll does appeal to my cinematic masochist side.’
