How We Are Changing from the Traditional Horror Movie

By Horror Asylum on May 5, 2016 News

I’m sure we have all watched horror movies, whether that is hiding behind the sofa in fear as you can’t bear to watch the gruesome events in front of you, or if you’re brave enough with popcorn and managing to sit through it all without flinching. Either way, we know the usual sequence of horror movies, we have a villain, we have deaths, and we have fear in the audience. We also have a usual setting for this, at night predominantly, with a lonely victim, in a creaky old house that would spook out anyone, with music slowly beating to ramp up the tension and make you more scared than you ever thought humanly possible.

    Horror Movies

You get the idea, and there have been many excellent horror movies going back decades. However, now we are seeing more and more horror movies being set in different locations, including casinos. When it comes to casinos I prefer to think of sitting at home having a spin on the roulette via CasinoGuide770 rather than some poor soul getting butchered. However, as the movies evolve it is inevitable that the more traditional setting for horror films will change as directors look to add something that the audience can relate too, the old school horror movie may be going slightly out of fashion as people seek something new.

When it comes to casinos and films, one that immediately springs to mind is James Bond, and the action genre fits in well, with the high stakes, the pressure and importance of each hand all added to the theme and film. With horror films it is more unusual. However, as we touched on earlier, the themes surrounding horror movies may be getting tedious to the audience now, so a bit of change and something new could do wonders for a film. We all know the clichéd settings that come along with a horror movie and they can become boring especially if the storyline isn’t realistic or the acting carried out appropriately. So if new settings can provide a fresh injection to the industry and create some more classics then it will only be beneficial.

Horror movies are about capturing the audience and taking them along a gruesome ride that is as frightening as it is enthralling. Whether that be in a casino or in the woods, as long as the film can take you along that journey I’m sure all fans of horror movies will be excited – even if you have to watch the film through your fingers.
