It’s still over two years away from release but Spanish helmer Juan Antonio Bayona’s (‘The Orphanage’) feature adaptation of kids fantasy novel ‘A Monster Calls’ has picked up another new cast member. With Liam Neeson (‘Taken’) already set to play the “monster” and the lovely Brit star Felicity Jones (‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’) on board the project the latest addition is no stranger to the world of monsters and fanstasy. ‘Avatar’ and ‘Aliens’ star Sigourney Weaver has signed up for a role as the grandmother of a young boy who escapes into a world of fantasy. Weaver just finished working on Neill Blomkamp’s new sci-fi thriller ‘Chappie’. ‘A Monster Calls’ is based on the novel by British author Patrick Ness.
“The film tells the tale of a young boy who attempts to deal with his mother’s illness and the bullying of classmates by escaping into a fantastical world of monsters and fairy tales that deal with courage, loss and faith.”
The movie will be released on 14 October 2016.
