The first of writer/director Tommy DeNucci’s (‘Army of the Damned’, ‘Self Storage’) new 5 picture deal is set to arrive on VOD later this month. ‘Almost Mercy’ is the tale of Jackson and Emily who aren’t like the other kids. They are two burgeoning sociopaths on the brink of total meltdown, ticking time bombs seeking revenge. But just who will unravel first? ‘Almost Mercy’ is the first of DeNucci’s projects with Verdi and Woodhaven Productions and stars horror legends Bill Moseley (‘The Devil’s Rejects’, ‘Halloween’) and Kane Hodder (‘Seven’, ‘Monster’), Allie Marshall, Nick Principe, David Gere, Tommy Dreamer and newcomer Danielle Guldin. The movie lands on VOD on 26 May and will drop on to Netflix in July. Head below to check out the poster, stills and the trailer.
“Jackson and Emily live in a pretty little town rotten to its core – ‘the shittiest f**king place on earth.’ These two outsiders fi nd friendship in one another in a world of bullies, rapists, dirty priests, crooked cops, and wicked teachers.
Tortured by the town heroes, Emily and Jackson struggle to cope with the world around them. Emily, objectifi ed and sexualized by Coach Elwood (Kane Hodder), watches everyone’s lies from the sidelines. Jackson, taken advantage of by Pastor Johnson (Bill Moseley), is stuck in the thick of it. A traumatic event launches Jackson into a violent rage that gets him expelled from school and institutionalized.
Jackson and Emily become known as the Friends of Mercy when they learn the story of 1890’s Rhode Island native Mercy Brown. Suff ering from tuberculosis, Mercy is accused of being a vampire by her narrow minded elders and condemned to die. Inspired by her story, Jackson and Emily are determined to follow a different path.
After Jackson returns from his unconventional therapy he has a newfound fascination with guns. On top of his already violent past, dark events begin to unfold. Meanwhile, Emily encounters her own demons. Despite all odds, she manages to keep her grip on reality. Soon the Friends of Mercy are put to the test. Who will unravel first?”
