Filming has officially started on Waxman, the latest horror-thriller from writer-director Thomas J. Churchill and producing partner Aleksandra Zorich Hunt, who are fresh off the heels of filming “The 3 Killer Pigs”. Like “The 3 Killer Pigs”, Waxman is planned to be a franchise. As the psychological slasher styled film begins shooting on location in and around Los Angeles—the film is planned to be a blood-soaked story of revenge, fear and betrayal.
The plot follows Detective Danny Murphy whose desperate actions ignite a nightmare, culminating in the return of a vengeful, serial killer after his death. Detective Murphy is spooked by a theory but is determined to find all the pieces to figure out how to end the carnage of this notorious serial killer in hopes to save another life. Including the ones he loves. How has he returned? How do you catch someone who is already dead? The questions permeate Murphy’s every thought. Aligned with all the traits of horror icons from the past. Waxman is a fresh original approach to the genre and in creating a new horror icon of today. Waxman is both powerful and entertaining with a swift moving storyline and a heart racing climax.
“This is about delivering an experience for the audience that’s as shocking as it is fresh,” Churchill stated. “I am excited, we’ve created something that both respects horror traditions and brings something fresh and new to the table.”
Cinematography by David M. Parks. The Special FX for the Waxman design is by Marcel Banks and Anaglyph Studios. The haunting film score is composed by Erick Schroder (BIG FREAKING RAT, The Amityville trilogy), who has many collaborations with Churchill. Also contributing her musical talent is music supervisor & co-producer, Dez Cuchiara. The films co-producers also include Carlo Mendez, James Pratt, Alessandra Manias, Toni D’Antonio, Sharna Burgess, Giuseppe Tissino and Claudio Zorenon. Line Produced by Cinnamon Hoobler, Executive produced by Guy Quigley and ThunderSmoke Media LLC.
The film boasts a star-studded ensemble, including Carlo Mendez (Dexter: Original Sin), Jon Abrahams (House of Wax, Scary Movie), iconic musician/actor Frank Stallone (Rambo, Hudson Hawk), Shar Jackson (Moesha, Good Burger), Scott Schwartz (A Christmas Story Christmas, A Christmas Story), Christiana Leucas (The Last Stand), Jody Quigley (Impuratus, Apparition) alongside Sharna Burgess (Dancing with the Stars, 3 Killer Pigs), Rachel Pizzolato (3 Killer Pigs, Round the Decay), Charlie Schlatter (18 Again, Diagnosis Murder), James Pratt (Malibu Crush, 3 Killer Pigs), Tank Jones (Amityville Uprising, Paul’s Promise), Laurene Landon (Maniac Cop 1 & 2), David Castro, Dez Cuchiara, Savoy Bailey, Guxci, Grace Swanson, Georgie Leahy, Alyssa Mei Liu, Montana Victoria, Brandon Modelo, Mark Hoadley, Sonya Krueger, Ranen Navat, and rapper/actor Steve Troublesome Castillo. The mix of established stars, and rising talent is designed to appeal to a broader audience and not just towards horror enthusiasts.
Producer Aleksandra Zorich Hunt said, “We’re so thrilled to have this cast and to shoot what could be the next horror franchise”. This is the second film under the Church Hill Productions/AZ Pure banner. Waxman is positioning itself as a bold entry in contemporary horror.
