CELLULOID HORROR PLAYING SAN FRAN FESTIVAL
One of the must-see genre features unspooling at the currently running San Francisco Independent Film Festival is Ashley Festers CELLULOID HORROR. This documentary focuses on Fango writer and longtime fright fan Kier-la Janisse and the CineMuerte International Film Festival she established in Vancouver. CineMuerte, which has persevered despite little financial backing or support from local media, brought genre fare like THE BEYOND, WHO COULD KILL A CHILD, THE ISLE, MARK OF THE DEVIL and lots more, plus guests including Udo Kier, JButtgereit, Jeff Lieberman, John Saxon and Buddy Giovinazzo, to the Canadian city, and Festers movie provides a fascinating and sometimes funny look at how she pulled it off. CELLULOID HORROR (with Fester in attendance) plays the SF Fest Friday, February 13 at 7:15 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 14 at 9:15 p.m. Other fear fare showing at the fest includes Fangos first theatrical release THE LAST HORROR MOVIE, Robert Parigis LOVE OBJECT, Takashi Miikes GOZU, Ryuhei Kitamuras ARAGAMI and its counterpart, Yukihiko Tsutsumis 2LDK, Sue Corcorans B-movie musical Biblical epic horror comedy GORY GORY HALLELUJAH.
