TOMASELLI GOES SWIMMING
Dante Tomasellis not planning on going on vacation anytime soon. Fresh from finishing work on his latest film, Satans Playground, the strange indie director began work on his next film, Ocean. He recently dished some info about it, dig it;
‘The Ocean is basically the same film I was planning on doing two years ago. I used to call it Apparition. It centers on a woman haunted by the death of her husband and son. There will be supernatural riptides, violent drownings, poltergeist spirits…I don’t want to give away too much. I’m reworking the script right now. Things may change. Bit it’s clear that Felissa Rose will have the starring role. And Judith O’Dea (Night of the Living Dead) will be featured in a sequence where she’ll be tormented by corpses rising to the surface of the ocean. Ellen (The Evil Dead) Sandweiss’s daughter, Jessy, will be possessed, a nod to her mother. I have a thing for interlocking characters. The Arrow (aka John Fallon) will have a cameo as a surfer. I’d love for Karen Black to be in it. We’ll see.
But my aim is to for it to be atmospheric, very moody and gothic. Stylistically, it’s probably most inspired by The Fog, a movie I saw in theaters, when I was 10, in 1980. I’m writing the electronic score for it now too. ‘
Tomaselli, in case the name is ringing no bells, sneaked onto the scene a few years back with a very odd horror movie called Desecration, which was followed up by Horror. Info on his next film, Satans Playground, can be found online at its official site right here.
