New York City-based Merlion Films sent Fango a bunch of info on its new horror movie NIGHTMARE. Directed by first-timer Dylan Bank from a script he wrote with Morgan Pehme (who also produced with Ged Dickersin and Ed Gregory), it stars Jason Scott Campbell (pictured) as a film student who wakes up one morning in bed with a woman he’s never met. They discover a video camera pointed at them, and when they play the tape back, they’re horrified to see themselves committing a bloody murder—even though there are now no signs of violence in the room. He soon finds himself forced to make a movie about what’s happening to him, even as he discovers more shocking videotapes each morning and tries to find out who’s taping him. Nicole Roderick, Amin Joseph, Noah Weisberg and Jennifer Carta also star; the makeup FX were created by SHADOW: DEAD RIOT’s Brian Spears and Peter Gerner.
The film just won Best Score (by award-winning hip-hop producer Kangol) at Shockerfest in Modesto, CA, and will next play three weekends in a row at the Eerie Horror Film Festival in Pennsylvania, followed by dates at the New York City Horror Film Festival and the Chicago Horror Film Festival. You can see the movie’s official website, with links to a trailer, cast/crew/production info and nifty animated features, here.
