Dread Central have been telling all about the new King novel, Cell, for a while now, and the man has at least three other books in the pipeline in addition to that, as well as the upcoming Dark Tower comic series. Apparently with all his schooling he never learned what the word “retirement” means, and say thankee for that.
As if all that weren’t enough, a brand new book just became available for pre-order yesterday for which the demand has been through the proverbial roof. The book is called The Secretary of Dreams, a graphical collection of some of King’s short stories, handpicked by the man himself and illustrated by Glenn Chadbourne.
Hundreds of full-color illustrations and full comic panels populate the 250-page book, which features the stories “The Road Virus Heads North,” “Uncle Otto’s Truck,” “The Rainy Season,” “The Reach,” “Jerusalem’s Lot,” and the fantastic zombie story “Home Delivery.”
Cemetery Dance is the one and only publisher of Secretary, which went up on its site yesterday to a massive response. Of course the book is severely limited, and no more editions of it are planned!
King has already picked six more stories for a second volume to be announced next year, and Chadbourne is hard at work on the illustrations for it, so don’t despair too much if you miss this one.
