Writer/director G. William Stechman has announced that he’ll follow up his recently wrapped hardcore horror feature THREADING OVER DARK by adapting a pair of novels by Bram Stoker Award finalist Michael Laimo. Stechman will write the scripts for both THE DEMONOLOGIST and DEEP IN THE DARKNESS, though he’ll be shopping the former to studios for acquisition and plans to shoot the latter independently.
DEMONOLOGIST, published this past May by Leisure Books, centers on an aging rock star who becomes caught up with a cult so evil that it is not only in conflict with God but with Satan as well. DARKNESS, also from Leisure and published in 2004, is about a doctor and his family who move to a small town where underground creatures are said to dwell in the nearby forest. Laimo got the Stoker nod for his first novel, ATMOSPHERE, which Leisure put out in 2002. You can find out more about the author and his works at his website and MySpace page.
Stechman further reports that DARK, which has been selected to play in rough-cut form at the International Week of Fantasy in Malaga, Spain next spring. The movie’s official website can be found here and its MySpace page here.
