Warner Bros. has hired tyro scribe Gary Dauberman to work with director-producer Guillermo del Toro in penning the script for the bigscreen adaptation of DC Comics’ Deadman, according to Variety. The project is a potential directing vehicle for del Toro, who is producing with Angry Films’ Don Murphy and Murphy’s partner Susan Montford. Deadman is the ghost of a murdered circus acrobat who has the power to possess the living in order to seek out his killer, as well as to help the innocent. Dauberman impressed “Deadman” producers with a spec script he had written for a Western zombie pic. Del Toro’s latest film, “Pan’s Labyrinth,” opens Dec. 29.
