The true legend that is John Carpenter (responsible for horror and sci-fi genre classics such as ‘Halloween’, ‘The Thing’, ‘Escape from New York’ and ‘Big Trouble in Little China’) is the director who has been named (finally) as the helmer of ‘Fangland’, based on the vampire novel by John Marks of the same title.
It’s a project that’s been on the cards for a very long time now and so finally looks like it’s now getting somewhere. The modern gothic novel is centered on a New York-based producer who travels to Romania for an interview with a notorious European arms dealer, who turns out to be a modern-day Dracula.
Mark Wheaton will be the one adapting the script for DAS Films and Blumhouse Productions which hopefully will get Carpenter back to what he does best after some fairly dismal flicks over the past decade. Hilary Swank was once attached to star in the flick and as far as we can see still might be.
