Following last week’s report that zombie series ‘The Walking Dead’, is indeed bad-ass and so friggin popular that it only needed to air 2 episodes before AMC decided to confirm a 13-episode second season, it appears now that AMC won’t be rushing things just yet. AMC will hold off the follow-up season till next October so they can feature the new series at next Fall’s ‘Fearfest’ event. ‘The Walking Dead’, created by Frank Darabont (‘The Mist’, ‘The Shawshank Redemption’, ‘The Green Mile’) and starring Andrew Lincoln (‘Love Actually’), Jon Bernthal, Sarah Wayne Callies (below), Laurie Holden (‘Silent Hill’), Jeffrey DeMunn, Steven Yeun and Chandler Riggs, is set to run just 6 episodes this season. Not overly sure what all the hoo-ha is about though as the first season kicked off this October so wouldn’t it make sense that the next season does the same next year – no big deal?
“‘The Walking Dead’ follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, who travel in search of a safe and secure home. The comic goes on to explore the challenges of life in a world overrun by zombies who take a toll on the survivors, and sometimes the interpersonal conflicts present a greater danger to their continuing survival than the zombies that roam the country. Over time, the characters are changed by the constant exposure to death and some grow willing to do anything to survive.”
‘The Walking Dead’ broke ratings records, with the series reaching more Adults 18-49 than any other show in the history of cable television. Frank Darabont is also reportedly set to write and direct a new epsiode to be featured in the upcoming second season.
