CLIVE BARKER & THE REPTILES
Theres no word of a new Candyman movie yet [you may remember Tony Todd was hoping the films original director might return for another installment] but seems Clive Barkers got his hands full. According to his official site, Barkers prepping Midnight Meat Train, Tortured Souls, Bloody Mary and a second Lord of Illusions movie.
‘Clive announced to Lost souls that he has turned in a draft for the Midnight Meat Train, and hopes to begin on it sometime in 2004. Clive looks to make this movie as a hard R rating due to the intensity of the story. The movie will be made thru an independent studio.’
In addition, Clive spoke on his movie Dread that he’s been working on, ‘We have a draft, and again I hope that’s a movie we can get going next year.’
Whats going on with the Lord of Illusions TV series? ‘Instead of a series Clive is now considering another Harry D’Amour movie.’ No word on whether Scott Bakula would be back for that though.
What about Tortured Souls, which he’s been working on forever with McFarlane for Universal? ‘The final draft coming in in two weeks time. Then that will go to Universal, and hopefully we’ll start to make that movie, and that will be great. At least that’s what we plan.’
What’s going on with that other film about the myth of Bloody Mary? ‘Clive told Lost Souls ‘We have somebody, this is not a name you would know, a guy who was one of the producers on a bunch of sort of independent hits over the last couple years. He’s going to come on and help us co-produce. We are going to end up getting that made next year, which is great.’ Bloody Mary will not be made through a major studio.’
