    STAN WINSTON’S UPCOMING PROJECTS

Moviehole shared this great interview with us in which f/x guru Stan Winston talks about his various upcoming projects.

I had the chance to talk to effects-whiz Stan Winston for Moviehole this morning about what’s in the works for him. He talked a little about ‘Aliens vs Predator’, ‘Constantine’, ‘T4’ and a ‘Wrong Turn’ sequel.

‘Right now, I’m in the middle of working on a wonderful movie over at Columbia ￿ with Laura Ziskin, who did ‘Spider-Man’, called ‘Constantine’, based on a comic called ‘Hellblazer’. I can’t say too much, because of a confidentially agreement I have with them, but the script is wonderful and we’re working on some great character designs for it’, says Winston.

‘I’ve also just done some work on Tim Burton’s new film called ‘Big Fish’, and I hope to soon get a script off the ground here at my own production company for a film called ‘Me and My Monster’, which is really great’.

Winston also worked on the recent ‘Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines’, currently one of the big money-spinners in town. ‘Oh wasn’t it great?! We had such butterflies too, what with Jim Cameron not returning, and Arnold being a little bit older ￿ he’s actually one year younger than me – But Arnold came back shining, and Jonathan Mostow [the Director] did a fantastic job. We worked really hard on designs for the robots, and they also came out great’. So great that a T4 might be just around the corner, perhaps? ‘It’s just talk. Nothing definite at the moment’.

One film Winston￿s a little disappointed he didn’t get asked to be a part of was the upcoming ‘Aliens vs. Predator’. ‘I wanted to be involved in that so badly’, he confesses. ‘I mean I created the Predator. I drew him up on a plane ride with Jim Cameron. And then Aliens, I created the Queen. So they’re like my babies, so I wasn’t very happy that I’m not asked to be a part of it. Pride of Ownership, I guess. Still, I wish them the best of luck, and just hope they do the film some justice’.

Winston￿s crossing his fingers they do follow-up ‘Predator’ and ‘Aliens’ movies so that he might get a chance to work alongside his ‘babies’ again. If he doesn￿t, he says there’s always his own franchise, the ‘Wrong Turn’ series. ‘It sets itself up for one. Three Fingers is still around, as you’ll know from the end [of the first film], and if the movie is an overall success, and the DVD has legs, which I think it does, it’s a definite. I think ‘Wrong Turn’ is going to go down in history as a film that’s very faithful to the genre, because it’s so credibly scary’.
