Nathan Hill gets behind the camera to direct his latest thriller/horror feature film ‘Séance’. A title which is already established in a long line of horror films, much like his ‘Jekyll & Hyde’ film Hill attempts to make a genre film that he has described as the most frightening tale ever told to him personally. Hill brings back ‘Tomboys’ veteran Daniel Rankin to play the lead role of William Trigger. Hill wrote the screenplay and headed off to the outskirts of the Mornington Peninsula to shoot the grueling two week indy production. The shoot was filled with creepy coincidences and a frightening all night shoot which apparently drove most of the crew involved, hysterical.
Hill and Rankin both went to high school together and one day during a history lesson were taught by an emergency teacher who described to them in detail about the loss of a friend who had passed due to a horrific experience involving a séance.
Dreamscape financed the shooting budget but said the movie failed to beat Hill’s previous film ‘Tomboys’. Mr Hill says the movie is quite misunderstood and is more of an Arthouse film shot along the lines of Gus Van Sant’s “Gerry” with an “Easy Rider” twist, that just happens to be a thriller/horror film.
“Based on a true story. After William Trigger’s fiancé dies in a car accident, his life begins to spiral downwards into loneliness and seclusion. Taking a friend’s advice, he attends a gathering, unaware that a séance is waiting for him on his arrival to try and contact the deceased. When he returns home things are not what they seem. Something or someone begins to haunt him. A frightening tale of one man’s decent into madness, the supernatural and the doors to the other side.”
