It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything from the ‘Beetlejuice 2’ camp. There has been talks and rumours about a potential follow-up for a long time now even with star Michael Keaton confirming back in February that he would be very interested in reprising the role and once again don his comical stripey suit. But it also appears that director Tim Burton is also keen to try his hand at a sequel. In a recent interview during his promotional stint for upcoming feature ‘Big Eyes’ Burton confirmed that he was working on a script and thinks it’s probably closer than ever. And what Michael Keaton receiving high praise and award nominations for his recent starring role in Alejandro González Iñárritu’s dramedy ‘Birdman’ it couldn’t come at a better time.
The original ‘Beetlejuice’ first appeared in theatres all the way back in 1988 and co-starred Alec Baldwin (’30 Rock’), Geena Davis, Catherine O’Hara, Jeffrey Jones and Winona Ryder (‘Star Trek’) who incidentally has also shown interest in appearing in a potential sequel.
