HELLRAISER: DEADER
Meet Amy Klein (Khari Wuhrer), the offbeat journalist to an underground British newspaper, the always cool, intense, hardcore, uncompromising, lonely, bitter woman.
The establishment is ruled by greedy editor, Charles Richmond (Simon Kunz) who receives a videotape addressed to Amy that documents a ritual performed by followers of cult self-named the Deaders. Amy starts in pursuit of the tape, to Romania, following the sender’s address. With not too much of a strain she will find the Deaders den and their leader, Winter (Paul Ryce). In true Hellraiser fashion, reality starts to fumble between credible explanations and extraordinary events, once the puzzle box opens unlocking the door to another world – that of pleasures beyond any human experiences.
Pandemonium begins when Amy is swept into it. While trying to explain why she is held responsible for opening that door, she will be led to yet another secret, that of her terrible past which she has safely thrown in the void of her memory. The dark, terrifying, confusing experiences she goes through when roaming in the passage world of the Deaders, will eventually come to an end when Pinhead crosses over from his kingdom to take his dues. Amy will finally triumph even over Pinhead (Doug Bradley) and the Deaders, taking charge over herself, using that very power of evil, she finally admits to possess inside.
Extraordinary special effects, of which prosthetic make-up or computer built imagery, will complete the fantastic view to this imaginary world. The shocking portraits of characters from the underground world depicted through Amy’s eyes are the joined effort of costume designer Oana Paunescu, production designer Cristi Niculescu, prosthetics Gary Tunnicliffe, and make up artists Dana Busoiu.
Locations or built sets, every of the place Amy takes us while investigating the fantastic events, will undoubtedly claim a place in the memory of the viewer. Same for the characters we meet, contrasting reality, first by the costumes they wear, than by the exquisite life-like prosthetic make-up that will define their fantastic nature.

HELLRAISER: HELLWORLD
Hellworld is a movie about the movie. A group of five kids, all good friends, fervent players of the Hellraiser inspired computer games, get each an invitation to a Hellraiser party, from the ‘HELLWORLD.NET’ web site. The location: a vintage mansion, little known of. The condition: the invitee will come alone. These parties are said to exist, only this particular one is special. Four years ago, the kids lost a friend, Adam, who died believing he has given his soul to Pinhead and embraced the World of Darkness. Adam’s father (Lance Henriksen), a scientist, holds the five responsible for his kid’s tragic end, grieving his death now as much as four years ago and. A most brilliant and dangerous mind, the doctor conceives an intricate plan: he throws a Hellworld party, records images and sounds and then sends five targeted invitations to the five little demons who deserve punishment. They easily fall into his traps, first by showing up, then by drinking or being administered a most powerful hallucinogenic drug that will create custom, client-tailored nightmares for each of them. In other words, the five kids are deviously separated form one another and they will each live their own nightmare. Three of them will even die of the death they imagine for themselves, their minds proving fit to the challenge. Most conveniently, they are already buried several feet under the ground, in coffins.
The two survivors will put the pieces together, Jack (Christopher Jacot) and Chelsea (Katheryn Winnick). The devious doctor dies, and surprise! – He is torn to pieces by Pinhead’s hooks and chains like a worthy hell victim. Was it all real, does Hellraiser world exist? These are questions that many times will spring all throughout the movie, as the edge between reality and fantasy will often waver, even in the most rational and grounded mind.
The sinister, secluded mansion house was embodied in two locations in Bucharest: the Modrogan mansion for the exteriors – an island with a forest and extensive grounds, in the middle of two crossing boulevards; and the Writers’ House – an impressive mansion with tall rooms and wide spaces, gilded decorations and luxurious architecture, for part of the interiors. An enormous work was put into building sets in the studio over a very short time. The film walks us to quite a number of sets, all rooms of the nightmare house.
So the latest of Hellraiser series, starts with a claim to reality, building on from shop-bought gadgets of Hellraiser paraphernalia to abstract images turning into yet another metaphor that will most likely challenge any viewer, Hallraiser fan or not.
