IT’S A MAN-THING
FANGORIA caught up with Marvel Studios Executive Vice President Kevin Feige today and asked for a progress report on the upcoming Marvel Studios horror project MAN-THING, which Feige will be producing. ‘We hope to shoot in Australia this summer,’ Feige says. ‘It’s a very different kind of movie, a very small movie.’
MAN-THING, about a swamp-wandering creature that defends nature against toxic criminals (think: Marvel’s version of SWAMP THING) and has a fiery touch, is slated to be directed by Brett (LAWNMOWER MAN) Leonard from a script by Hans (WEREWOLF BY NIGHT) Rodionoff. Marvel honcho Avi Arad had earlier suggested the film was to be shot in and around New Orleans doubling for the Florida Everglades, but it was recently reported that the shoot would be heading Down Under.
‘It’s a very different feel for us,’ Feige enthuses. ‘It’s just sort of taking a character that has been very popular over the years within the comic audiences that’s very well-known less so outside of that into the mainstream audiences and doing what we think will be a very unique horror film.’
Also Australian supermodel turned budding singer Imogen Bailey [she was the one on ‘Celebrity Big Brother’] is rumoured to be working on the soundtrack to ‘Man-Thing’. In addition, to recording some music for the film, it’s rumoured the pretty blonde might also nab herself a role in the film. Bailey and Director Leonard’s relationship dates back to when the promising model appeared in video clips he directed.
Kevin’s latest project – X2 – opens next Friday, May 2nd.
