MACABRE SET UP AT MGM
Here’s some proof that writing comic books can make you decent money: MGM has ponied up somewhere in the mid-six figures for the rights to Steve Niles new comic book mini-series CRIMINAL MACABRE. If the movie gets greenlit Niles stands to make more than a million bucks from the deal.
Niles, the writer of the horror comic 30 DAYS OF NIGHT and its sequel DARK DAYS, stays in the same genre with his latest creation. CRIMINAL MACABRE follows the exploits of private investigator Cal MacDonald, a human who investigates (and sometimes eliminates) supernatural creatures living in Los Angeles. The first issue in Dark Horse’s five-issue series came out last month. One neat aspect of the main character is that his sidekick happens to be a reanimated zombie.
30 DAYS OF NIGHT is in development at Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert’s production company. Issue two of CRIMINAL MACABRE arrived yesterday in stores.
