PORTLAND HOSTS UNNAMABLE HORROR
Whether you’re new to this whole horror culture thing or have been into longer than you can remember, there’s one name you’re bound to hear again and again when talk of classic horror literature comes up; H.P. Lovecraft.
Every year, some freaks out in Portland, Oregon gather to honor the master of crawling chaos with a film festival complete with submissions from around the world, and this year will see no change. Except, perhaps, in the special guests attending…
On October 9-12, Lovecraftphiles will converge upon the Hollywood Theatre in Portland, and among the celebrities they will oogle will be actor Jeffrey combs (Re-Animator), director Brian Yuzna (Beyond Re-Animator), Lovecraft scholar S.T. Joshi, and actor Jack Donnor. Most of the filmmakers whose films will be scaring the crap out of moviegoers will be attendance as well, and hopefully they’ll stick around to help clean up all the crap out of the seats afterwards.
To check out the full schedule of films and guests, be sure to check out the festival’s official site right here, and make your plans accordingly. Stuart Gordon, director of From Beyond and Dagon, told me himself that this festival is a must for H.P. fans, and that’s not an opinion you mess with.
