X2 SCRIBE TO WAKE THE DEAD
Wake the Dead, Steve Niles’ latest foray in the world of comic book horror – and one that puts that ‘Niles spin’ on the classic Frankenstein lore, is reportedly selling out at various comic outlets with issue number one well on its way back to the printers for a second pressing.
Wake the Dead, Dimension Films’ adaptation of this very same comic, has been somewhat of a quiet mystery…one the Creature Corner has been investigating for further details since Dimension announced the acquisition of the property just after this year’s San Diego ComicCon. In the trades Dimension voiced nothing but avid enthusiasm for the project, nothing more.
So, like Fritz helping his good Dr. Frankenstein in the graveyard after hours, we did a little digging.
Around the same time last week when Comic Book Resources posted their interview with Niles in which he stated that he could not divulge the screenwriter’s name behind Wake the Dead, the Corner was able to confirm through a number of sources that the writer is none other than Mike Dougherty.
He’s one of the three credited scribes on this summer’s most satisfying flick X2: X-Men United. At what stage in the game Dougherty is currently at on Wake the Dead is uncertain.
